Profile of Michigan Divorce Attorney Susan E. Cohen
Bloomfield Hills lawyer providing practical guidance
Susan E. Cohen graduated from Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills and received her bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College. Upon earning a master's degree in counseling, she returned to the Kingswood School and worked as a teacher, counselor and Assistant Director of Admissions. She took great professional satisfaction in helping families solve complex problems and make challenging decisions.
Ms. Cohen decided to become a lawyer with the specific intent of providing quality representation to Michigan families in crisis. She received her law degree from the University of Detroit in 1992 and opened her family law practice in Bloomfield Hills the following year. Her experience as a counselor readily translated into her role as a skilled attorney who helps families resolve conflict through negotiation, mediation, arbitration — and trial, only if necessary.
Throughout her career she has been active in numerous professional organizations, including the family law sections of the Michigan and Oakland County bar associations and the Governor's Task Force on Children's Justice. Ms. Cohen is an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a Certified Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and holds an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review RatingSM from Martindale-Hubbell®.
